The Ford EcoSport is a subcompact SUV, smaller than the long-established Ford Escape. A five-passenger SUV, this model is spacious inside and has a cargo area that holds more than other SUVs in its class. Here, we've compared the new EcoSport against other popular models, all of which are larger than it, but, as you can see, the Ford model easily beats each one in a number of key areas.

The Ford EcoSport vs. the Buick Encore

  • Space and size. Both subcompact crossovers, the Encore and the EcoSport come in with similar overall measurements. However, Newtown and New Milford drivers will find more space and comfort in the EcoSport than the Encore. The Ford has greater legroom in both the front and the backseat than the Buick, and it also has more cargo space. The EcoSport cargo hold accommodates up to 20.9 cubic feet, while the Encore cargo hold has room for up to 18.8 cubic feet.
  • Efficiency and options. The Ford EcoSport has better fuel economy ratings than the Buick Encore as well. The Ford earns an EPA rating of 27 mpg in the city and 28 mpg combined. Meanwhile, the Buick gets a rating of 25 mpg in the city and 27 mpg combined. Plus, when it comes to driving the EcoSport vs. the Encore, any EcoSport model can be ordered with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Encore, on the other hand, doesn't have all-wheel drive available for all trim levels.

The Ford EcoSport vs. the Toyota RAV4

  • Passenger comfort. The Toyota RAV4 measures both taller and longer than the Ford EcoSport. But Ford maximizes its interior better than the RAV4, giving you more room to stretch your legs than the Toyota. The Ford offers more legroom and nearly the same amount of headroom, in an SUV that's smaller and easier to drive and park.
  • Engine options. Ford understands that drivers like options, and they have two different powertrains to choose from with the EcoSport. The Toyota RAV4, on the other hand, doesn't allow for choice. Every RAV4 comes powered by the same engine, regardless of trim level.

The Ford EcoSport vs. the Nissan Rogue

  • Customization options. As with the Toyota RAV4 comparison before it, the EcoSport also has more engine options than the Nissan Rogue. The Rogue has just one four-cylinder engine available for the entire lineup, while the Ford EcoSport, on the other hand, gives Brookfield and Monroe, CT drivers a choice between either a three-cylinder engine or a four-cylinder engine. The EcoSport also has more trim levels available to choose from than the Nissan Rogue.
  • Features. The Ford EcoSport comes with a long list of standard features than the Nissan Rogue. These are amenities you can find on any EcoSport, but that you have to move up in trims to get on your Rogue, and they include 4G LTE and Wi-Fi.
