Ford F-150 vs. the Competition
The 2024 Ford F-150 vs. the Competition
Truck drivers all over the country have made the Ford F-150 the most popular full-size pickup in America. In fact, the F-150 does its job so well it's been the best-selling truck for an unprecedented 47 years in a row. Of course, the F-150 faces tough competition in the form of the Chevy Silverado 1500, the Ram 1500 and the GMC Sierra 1500. If you're considering these competitors, here's a comparison of all four trucks to show why the F-150 comes out ahead and is worth a test drive at Colonial Ford of Danbury in Danbury, CT.
The F-150 vs. the Chevy Silverado 1500
A key reason the Ford F-150 is so popular is that it offers Newtown and New Milford buyers a longer list of engine options than any competitor including the Chevy Silverado 1500. The F-150 has a menu of seven different engines compared with only four for the Chevy Silverado 1500. For example, the F-150 offers a 3.5-liter V6 with 400 horsepower, a 3.5-liter hybrid V6 with 430 horsepower, a 5.0-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and a 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower.
In addition, the F-150 allows you to move up to a 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 diesel engine as well as a 3.5-liter high-output V6 with 450 horsepower. The Chevy Silverado 1500 starts with a smaller, under-powered 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 310 horsepower and gives you only limited engine options above that level. That includes a diesel engine with only 305 horsepower compared with an impressive 450 horsepower with the F-150's diesel engine.
The F-150 vs. the Ram 1500
The new 2024 Ford F-150 full-size pickup delivers outstanding performance with its twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, giving you 410 pound-feet of torque and 325 horsepower. The F-150 with that engine can provide Brookfield and Monroe drivers with a maximum towing capacity of 13,500 pounds. Meanwhile, the Ram 1500 with the standard 3.6-liter V6 doesn't measure up to the standard engine in the Ford F-150, giving you only 273 pound-feet of torque and 305 horsepower. The maximum towing capacity in the Ram 1500 comes up well short of the F-150 at only 12,750 pounds.
That base model Ram 1500 can tow only 7760 pounds when it's equipped with the Quad Cab and the 4x2 configuration so once again, the F-150 is the superior pickup. The Ford F-150 also has a significant advantage over the Ram 1500 when it comes to the interior. The F-150 has a large 12-inch touch screen and an available mobile work surface. The Ram 1500 base model gets a much smaller 8.4-inch touch screen and doesn't offer a mobile work surface.
The Ford F-150 vs. the GMC Sierra 1500
The base engine in the Ford F-150 is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with more horsepower than the GMC Sierra 1500's TurboMax model. In addition, Ford's 2.7-liter V6 can tow up to 10,100 pounds while the TurboMax engine can tow only 9500 pounds. The F-150 wins again with its 5.0-liter V8 engine that gives you 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. That compares favorably with the GMC Sierra 1500's 5.3-liter engine that provides just 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
In that same engine showdown, the F-150 delivers 13,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity compared with only 11,200 pounds in the comparable GMC Sierra 1500. At the top end, Ford's 3.5-liter Power Boost full hybrid V6 comes with a hefty 570 pound-feet of torque compared with only 460 pound-feet in the GMC Sierra's 6.2-liter V8 engine. To top it all off, the Ford F-150 with the twin-turbo V6 gives Ridgefield drivers a maximum towing capacity of 13,500 pounds compared with only 13,100 pounds in the GMC Sierra 1500 with a 6.2-liter V8.
