Learn More About Ford’s Military-Grade Aluminum Alloy Bodies

If you are a fan of the Ford F-150, then you may know it’s been the best-selling vehicle in the United States for 32 years. In 2015, Ford created the F-150 with an all-new high-strength steel frame and a high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body. This new body has reduced vehicle weight by up to 700 pounds, and having a lighter truck means it’s more capable than ever before.

Pete Friedman, Manager, Manufacturing Research Department of Ford Research and Advanced Engineering, Ford Motor Company states, “Our objective was to find materials that allowed us to design the truck to be as tough—or tougher—than the current model, yet could help it be hundreds of pounds lighter for better capability and fuel economy.”

Aside from the F-150, you can find Ford’s high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy bodies with the F-250 and F-350 models, as well. You can view our new vehicle inventory to see what we currently have in stock.
