The 2017 C-Max Offerings

For a great multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) you may consider buying the new 2017 Ford C-Max. The C-Max was introduced to the US in 2013 with two trim levels: the SE and the SEL. For 2017 the SEL trim is gone. It has been replaced with the premium Titanium trim. There is also a choice of 2 drivetrains: hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Both of these drivetrains are related to a 141 hp Atkinson-cycle engine that is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This generates power to the front wheels. The hybrid uses a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery with a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor. This can produce an output of 188 hp. There is no gas-only version.

The C-Max Energi is the plug-in model with a battery that is good for an electric-only range of 19 miles. This battery could be fully charged in 2.5 hours from a 240-volt outlet. Using a standard 120-volt outlet it would take 7 hours. The C-Max comes with many power outlets, a fuel-economy display, cruise control, and much more.
